A 23-year-old Versova resident travelling aboard the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro has sought compensation from its operator MMOPL after she allegedly suffered an injury inside the Metro.

The incident took place when the hand grab she was holding on to while standing 'fell' on her head.

Charvi Kadam was travelling from Marol Naka Metro station to Versova Metro station on January 30 when the alleged incident took place.

Kadam told DNA, "The Metro was about to reach Andheri station when the hand grab that I was holding fell on my head, giving me bruises. I was not able to attend my classes for three days following this injury because I was dizzy. I have written to the Mumbai Metro One Private Limited seeking compensation towards the medical expenses I am incurring."

In her complaint to MMOPL, Kadam said, "The emergency person did not respond to the scene of the accident for more than 15 minutes. I complained to customer care and left for home. But I am unable to focus on my class because of pain and blurred vision."

"My condition is stable. But I am still experiencing significant pain and doctors have asked for CT scan. I am entitled to compensation and look forward to getting it soon," her complaint states.

When contacted for comment about the incident via email, MMOPL did not respond to DNA's query.

But in the email written to Kadam, MMOPL said, "Please be informed that we do check the healthiness of the trains and all its systems and equipment, and induct then into service only if they pass the pre-departure health checks. However, sometimes during passenger services, due to constant rough handling, there might be some wear and tear, which happens. Once again, we regret the inconvenience caused to you and hope for your continued patronage."
