Probing into the drug factory bust at Rasayani in Raigad district, officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have learnt that the accused people involved in the syndicate wanted to hire one more godown to store drugs. The agency sleuths on Saturday night arrested a fourth person in the case.

The fourth arrested person has been identified as Sam Devaprakash P.

According to the DRI sources, on receipt of specific intelligence that banned drug Ketamine is stored at a godown of M/s Ganesh Enterprises at Taloja, Raigad. The agency sleuths on Friday conducted a raid at the said place. The sleuths also raided a factory premises at Rasayani in Raigad where the Ketamine was being manufactured and dispatched to Malaysia.

The DRI had seized 256 kilogram of Ketamine and 12 kilogram of Methamphetamine during the raids. The agency arrested three people during the operation.

"Sam Devprakash during his interrogation had admitted that he used to take care of logistics for manufacture and storage of psychotropic substances; he opened dummy firms against names of various people and leased godowns in their names; he also handled various banking transactions of the syndicate. He opened bank accounts and made rent agreements at fake addresses; he was also in the process of hiring one more godown to be used for the drug syndicate; he also prepared fake invoices for transport and export of drugs," said an agency source.

Speaking about the syndicate, the official said, "The accused people were involved in manufacturing of drugs which were later supposed to be exported to Malaysia. It is an international gang that is involved. People from Chennai who were experts in manufacturing drugs were employed and were sent to Rasayani to prepare drugs. The Malaysia counterparts recruited well-educated youngsters for its operations /logistics and to indulge in smuggling operations by camaflouging the contraband as genuine exports. This Malaysia based syndicate floated multiple companies in fictitious IEC numbers , hired godowns in remotest areas in neighbouring districts of Mumbai for storing the stock."
