A four storied building collapsed in Ghatkopar's Damodar Park on Tuesday killing eight, including two senior citizens, a woman and a three-month-old baby girl. Over 30 residents are still trapped under debris.
The rescue operation is in full swing. Until now 12 people have been rescued, reports ANI. But rescue officers are facing difficulty due to a lot of chaos in the area. One fire man also got injured during the rescue operation. The National Disaster Response Force has been mobilised for help, reports ANI.
The deceased were identified as Ranjanben Shah, 62, V Renuka, three-months, Sulakshana Khanchandani, 80, and a 45-year-old woman.
Maharashtra Housing Minister Prakash Mehta announced an investigation into the matter and assured to take action in this matter.

The Sai Apartment in Damodar Park in Ghatkopar on LBS Road, which collapsed on Tuesday morning is a 40 to 50 years old building. 25 families were residing in the building.

The fire brigade is hard at work, but they are facing many difficulties as Chincholi lane, the road leading to the building, is very small.
