The Railways once again proved to be a soft target for protesters and agitators. A group of 20-25 people, who claimed to be Ola and Uber drivers, came down on tracks at the Dadar station on Tuesday morning, and stopped train services. The incident occurred at around 10.30 am. The group of protesters wore caps and were down on the tracks with placards.

The group allegedly belonging to the youth wing of Dalit Panther, staged Tuesday's "rail roko." The agitation in favour of Ola and Uber drivers went on for about seven minutes. Meanwhile, commuters clicked photos and made videos of the chaos that was on at platform number four of Dadar station.

Platform four at the Dadar station is where fast trains to and from Churchgate halt. The rail roko delayed trains in the morning. However, trains headed to Virar were not disrupted and were on time.

"Train services got affected for seven minutes since Ola and Uber drivers were protesting on the tracks," a spokesperson for the Western Railway said.

When the Railway Police arrived at the spot, protesters lied down on the tracks shouting anti-Ola/Uber slogans. They were gradually taken off the rail premises and train services resumed. The protesters were taken in custody by the Railway Police. The Dalit Panther group claimed that they were supporting the demands raised by the drivers of Uber and Ola. The Dadar Rail Police arrested eight protesters under various sections of the Railway Act and later released them on bail.

The Maharashtra Rajya Rashtriya Kamgar Sangh (MRRKS), which had been representing Ola and Uber drivers during strikes that took place in the past one month, stated that they had nothing to do with the rail roko. The MRRKS called off the strike on November 19 after they met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
