The Vile Parle police have registered a case against a 29-year-old man for allegedly raping a 28-year-old woman on the pretext of helping her in getting over her depression through magical ways.
The suspect, Ganesh Namdev Bhangre, also took Rs1 lakh from the victim in the pretext of performing some puja at his place.
Bhangre works in a private firm in Andheri (East) and lives in Tagore Nagar in Vikroli along with his parents.
According to the police, the victim works as an accountant in a private firm and lives in Vile Parle (East) along with her parents. The victim has alleged in her police complaint that she was in a relationship with a man but she went into depression after their relationship ended last year.
The victim then told one of her friends about her relationship and how she went into depression. The friend then told her that she know a man who help people come out of depression.
"The victim's friend then introduced her to Bhangre in June last year and after that the trio met in a Juhu hotel and had lunch. They then went to Juhu beach to discuss the issue. Bhangre stood at the beach and starred towards sun for few minutes. He then told the victim that he understood her problem and asked about her physical relation with her boyfriend. The victim replied him that she had a physical relation with her boyfriend few months ago" said a police officer.
"Bhangre told her that her boyfriend had done some black magic while establishing physical relation. So, if she wants to come out of this she has to establish physical relation with him. Initially, the victim denied but after their common friend convinced her she agreed," said another police officer.
"Bhangre then took her to his place in Vikroli where he allegedly raped her. After that the Bhangre took her to his place several times and raped her," added the officer.
The victim also alleged that Bhangre took around Rs1 lakh from her in installments on several occasion on the pretext of performing puja.
Around two months ago the victim realised that Bhangre was cheating her. Bhangre and the common friend took the victim to Shirdi where Bhangre forced the victim for physical relation but she denied. Bhangre then asked the victim if she want come out of black magic she should make her sister or one of her female friend to establish physical relation with him. He told her that he would take out the black magic from her body and will transfer into her sister or friend's body. The victim got angry and she narrated the incident to her parents and following that they approached Vile Parle police and registered case against Bhangre.
"We have registered a case of rape and cheating against Bhangre. Since the incident have taken place in Vikroli, the case was transferred to the Vikroli police station for further investigation," said senior police inspector Prakash Rane of the Vile Parle police station.
