A major fire late on Tuesday night gutted a garment workshop in Badalpur Chawl on Saklee street, behind E Ward office in South Mumbai.
According to the preliminary information 14 fire engines have been sent to the spot.
The fire brigade received a call at 10.20 pm about the fire. At 10.50 pm, a level III fire message was recorded, but then the call was elevated to level IV at 10.50 pm after assessing the situation at 11.10 pm
"Fire confined to hutments, godowns. 14 fire engines, 9 tankers, 2 Emergency Medical Service ambulance were sent to the spot", said Pratap Rahangdale, chief fire officer of Mumbai fire brigade.
