Fire broke out in the C-Wing of Marathon Tower near Palladium Mall in Mumbai on Tuesday night at around 10.52 PM. It was reported that the 8, 9 and 10 floor of the 18 storied glass building caught fire.
The tower being a commercial premise, no one was present there when the incident took place. Eight fire engines, six water tankers were rushed to the spot and the fire was extinguished at around 12.20 AM.
When P S Rahangdale, Chief Fire officer (CFO) was asked about the incident, he said, "The situation is almost under control, because of the glass facade it was believed that there was too much fire. However, that is not the case."
Rahangdale also added that, "Fire was reported from service deck and louvres from 6 - 10 floor."
Sources have said that the blaze took place due to a fire cracker. When DNA asked Rahangdale about the reason for the fire, he said, "It is still under investigation."
