There is a likelihood that for the next 7-10 days the number of Churchgate-Andheri services will be less. These are the trains that terminate at Andheri on platform 4. This is because the crossovers on tracks and the overhead cables above them have been damaged and needs replacement.

There are, in all, 13 crossovers on tracks and power cables above that are damaged. When the bridge collapsed, 100-tonne plus debris comprising of cement, paver blocks and metal fell on the tracks. This damaged the crossover - which enables a train to change path - and rail lines on harbour, slow and fast lines. It also snapped high powered 25,000-volt overhead cables and its steel mast that holds it tight.

Sources in Western Railway said that it has been replaced yet there is lot of work pending. This includes replacing the mast that holds power supplying cables and even the crossover. On July 5, officials had come for inspection at Andheri.

There are 46 services that ply between Churchgate and Andheri. WR officials said, they are figuring out ways to ensure that cancellations made are as little as possible.
