The Mumbai police arrested a man from Delhi for allegedly harassing and abusing a Mumbai-based fashion designer on social media.

According to a complaint filed by the victim, the accused would send her abusive messages on her Twitter and Instagram account. The complaint also said that some of the messages had explicit sexual content in them. The woman further stated that the accused would constantly stalk her and her sister on social media.

“Since I am a fashion designer, I have two Instagram accounts – one personal and the other professional. Whenever he sent abusive messages, I would take screenshots. While I eventually blocked him, he sent me personal messages with inappropriate content. I then approached the Vinoba Bhave police station in Kurla west to file a complaint,” she told DNA.

The police added that the woman had approached them last year with the complaint. “We formed a team and traced the IP number of the accused, who is based out of Delhi. We sent a team to nab him. He is currently in custody,” said Bharat Bhoite, Senior Police Inspector of Vinoba Bhave police station.
