Mumbai: Car has head-on collision with school bus

According to the Mulund Police on Monday evening, the school bus after the school hours were dropping back the students of Vaze English School to their homes.

In a shocking incident on Monday evening at Khindipada in Mulund (West), an Ecco car had a head-on collision with a school bus ferrying students back to their homes. A child the school bus was left seriously injured along with the driver of Ecco.

According to the Mulund Police on Monday evening, the school bus after the school hours were dropping back the students of Vaze English School to their homes. At around 6:15 pm the bus travelling from Bhandup (West) on LBS road took a left on Sonapur junction to go towards Khindipada. "The bus would have travelled some distance when a Ecco car coming from Khindipada towards Sonapur junction in a good speed had an head-on collision with the school bus which had around 20 students in the bus," said an officer from Mulund police station. He further added "luckily just one of the students was injured along with the driver of the car and both of them were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment."

The Mulund Police which rushed to the spot after the accident informed that they have registered a case of negligence and rash driving against the driver of the car identified as Ravindra Purshottam Sawant. Sawant, who is a resident of Bhandup, told the police that break of his vehicle failed due to which he could not control the car.
