The Shivaji Nagar police on Thursday with the help of personnel from the fire brigade fished out corpse of two minor boys from the Rafiq Nagar nullah at Govandi. Police said the kids fell into the nullah while they were playing next to it.

According to the police, Shehbaz Ali Kismat Sayyed (9), first fell inside the nullah while playing and was spotted by his friend Kaif Hashmi Qureshi (14). Qureshi jumped in the nullah to save Shehbaz but could not come up. Both the boys died due suffocation in the polluted nullah. Police said that both the deceased kids were residents of the nearby slums.

The police managed to establish the identity of the victims after their bodies were fished out. "As soon as we were informed about the incident we rushed to the spot and informed the fire brigade department. Both bodies were fished out from the clogged nullah and rushed to Rajawadi hospital for post-mortem," said a Shivaji Nagar police officer on the condition of anonymity.

"Both are residents of the slum and one of them fell down and got trapped in the sludge. A case of accidental death has been registered. The family denied foul play and if they come forward to register the complaint only then we will file the first information report," said Deepak Pagare, senior inspector, Shivaji Nagar police station.
