A suicide note was found in his pocket after he jumped from the school building.
An assistant headmaster named Ram Kamble committed suicide by jumping off from the school building on Friday morning. Kamble was the assistant headmaster and Mathematics teacher of the secondary section of SCD Barfiwala School at Andheri.
The incident has not only shocked teachers but also the former students of the school who gathered at the Cooper hospital where Kamble was taken. The incident happened in the morning at around 8am. Kamble lived with his wife and his seven-year-old son in Malad. A suicide note was found in his pocket after he jumped from the school building. The sources from the education department have claimed that the reason of suicide was depression, as mentioned in his note. He joined Barfiwala in 1995. The secondary section's unit test was going on at the time of the incident. The primary section was given a holiday, according to officials from the education department.
The D N Nagar Police said, the reason to take such a drastic step was his personal matter and is not related to the school. Kamble's body was in Cooper hospital for the postmortem report.
A principal from a neighbouring school said, “He was a nice person, other than that I don’t know anything about him or his personal life. The suicide news is really shocking for all the teachers.”
When contacted, Headmistress of the school refused to comment stating the matter is under investigation.
Parmeshwar Ganame, Senior Inspector, D N Nagar police station, said, “The reason of taking such a drastic step is his personal matter and it has nothing to do with school. It seems his wife and son were not talking to him for few days. A case is not yet registered against anyone. The police is investigating the matter.”
