A 15-year-old class 10 student hanged herself late on Wednesday night at her Samata Nagar residence because of her low scores in the internal preliminary examinations. Unable to cope with the pressure, she reportedly took the extreme step. The Samata Nagar police has registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and sent her body to the civic-run Shatabdi Hospital for post-mortem.

According to the police, the teenager, a student of Samata Nagar Vidyalaya, was alone in the house when she hanged herself. The family had gone out to run errands, but the teenager stayed back to study for her upcoming board examinations. However, when the family returned home at around 8.30 pm, they found her hanging from the ceiling fan and rushed her to the nearest hospital. She was declared dead before admission and Samata Nagar police was alerted.

The police is now questioning her peers. Raju Kasbe, senior police inspector of Samata Nagar police station said, "Her parents claimed she was academically weak and was struggling to concentrate on her studies. While no suicide note was recovered from the spot, we are investigating the matter further."
