Creating a war room, appealing to get even unapproved teachers to evaluate papers and setting hard targets for teachers- the University of Mumbai is making desperate attempts to fix a decision gone wrong.

As lakhs of students are still clueless about the status of their results, months after their exams got over, the University is now making last minute attempts to ensure that it meets the deadline of July 31, set recently by the office of the Governor for declaration of results.

As per sources, the University has created a war room at both its campuses where senior faculty members and officials have been asked to monitor the evaluation process and has been offered 200 terminals and space for the same number of faculty members to stay by the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) in Nashik.

Meanwhile, at a meeting conducted by the MU VC Sanjay Deshmukh on Friday, college heads and chairpersons of boards of studies were asked to get as many teachers as possible to evaluate the papers.

"We have been asked to even get even unapproved teachers for the evaluation to speed up the process. Teachers have also been given targets of correcting around 30 papers everyday and working for 6-7 hours a day. This would affect teaching at the college level," said a senior faculty member on the condition of anonymity.
