Students from the University of Mumbai who were selected for various courses at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) have been assured that the university would give their confidential results. While the results of MBA aspirants have been sent, aspirants of MS said their results would be sent to NIPER before July 17. DNA had earlier written about at least 28 pharmacy students who were set to lose their seats due to the university's delayed results.
MU officials sent results of all MBA aspirants on Tuesday which was the last day for the screening process. "We got our results at the very last minute and did not have to lose the seat," said a student selected for the MBA programme.
"The University of Mumbai sent us the confidential results before the deadline and we could allow the students to appear for the next screening process. We have also been assured that the results of MS aspirants would come before the deadline," said Raghuram Rao, Director, NIPER Mohali.
Mumbai University's vice chancellor, Sanjay Deshmukh did not respond to calls and messages, but the university's officials said, "We have fast-tracked the evaluation system to ensure that confidential results of these students can be sent."
Meanwhile, several teachers of the university who are a part of the Maharashtra Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (MFUCTO) blamed the university's unilateral decision for the delay in results in a press conference held on Tuesday. "Teachers were not consulted before the decision and today despite going for evaluation, several teachers are not able to assess papers due to technical glitches," said Tapati Mukhopadhyay, President, MFUCTO.
