The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has asked private players to submit their ideas to start a new recreation or entertainment centre on Mumbai-Pune Expressway in the near future.
"There is a vacant structure at Kusgaon close to Lonavla, which we would like to be used for some activity for motorists travelling on the Expressway," said an MSRDC official.

Since it's an Expression of Interest, the authorities have kept all ideas open. "It could be a resort, another food mall, entertainment centre, recreation place, party hall or anything else that the firm thinks would be workable at the location," explained the official.

Around 12 years ago, when the Mumbai-Pune Expressway was opened for public, a state transport bus stand was proposed to come up at Kusgaon. Therefore, construction was undertaken for ancillary facility, that is, a food plaza. However, the bus stand did not come up and this has given an opportunity to the MSRDC to utilise the structure for other commercial purposes.

Along the Expressway, the MSRDC has been planning a trauma centre as well as air ambulance service. Even an amusement park has come up in the area.

Ideas aplenty
Among the options that authorities are exploring are:

Resort
Food mall
Entertainment centre
Recreation place
Party hall
