If the local MLA's self publicity stunt didn't suffice, the BMC is playing the role of the 'moral police' with do's and don'ts boards put up all over the garden. A board in the garden screams 'Playing in the garden is banned. Even dancing, playing radio and guitar or other musical instruments is also not allowed. Please do not click photos in the garden.'

Local Congress leaders allege that this is beig done by the Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar and the BMC is engaging in moral policing in the public space.

"How can you stop the local band from performing? The parks are meant for the kids to play. If a garden is picturesque then people will click pictures. How can he (Sarvankar) impose his views on others? Are we living in a stone age?" quipped Rajan Bhosle, general secretary, state Congress.

When questioned on the intrusive signboards, local BMC officials shifted the blame on the garden department. The BMC stated that these were general guidelines for public, which are usually displayed to maintain the gardens.
