Money laundering: Bombay High Court to hear Sameer Bhujbal plea on May 21

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday said that it would like to hear and decide on the bail plea filed by Sameer Bhujbal, nephew of NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal, arrested on charges of money laundering in the Maharashtra Sadan scam, case.

Vacation bench Justice VL Achliya, said: "I have not read the papers and would like to hear both sides before deciding on the petition." Accordingly, the case was adjourned for further hearing to May 21.

Sameer's counsel argued that since alleged prime conspirator Chhagan Bhujbal has been granted bail, then Sameer too should be granted bail on grounds of parity. Additional Solicitor General, Anil Singh, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate, said: "The case against Sameer is different."

Sameer, has been behind bars since his arrest on February 8, 2016. It has been over two years. Sameer, along with others, are alleged to have got kick backs to the tune of Rs 887 crore.
