Isaac Creado, the 24-year-old who spent eight months on a dead ship, finally returned to his family on June 6.

His mother could not hold back her tears when she saw her son. Speaking to DNA, the ecstatic mother said that tears would well up often when her son was not around for eight months at a stretch. Isaac was fooled into a job of sailing off Dubai coast, with a promised salary of $850 per month. Instead, he was sent to a dead ship in deep sea which had irregular food supply, electricity and poor communication.

Isaac had left India on September 24, 2017 and boarded a dead ship in Dubai on October 4. He remained in the dead ship until June 4, when International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) rescued him and handed him over to the Indian Embassy.

"Initially, he would not tell us about the condition. His agent would tell him that the company pays after three months at one go when he would not get his monthly salary," said Felix, Isaac's father.

However, four months into the job, the family realised that they were fooled. The family, comprising of a retired father and a home-maker had paid Rs 1.5 lakh for the job, foregoing a huge amount of savings. "As of now, we are happy to see him. When I would call the agent asking for my son, he rudely told me one time 'If you want to see your son the way he was when he went, stop bothering me'. It made me feel really terrible," said a relieved Theresa, Isaac' mother.

However, Isaac is still fighting to get his salary from the fraudsters and determined to return to the sea soon.
