The body of a three-year-old boy, who went missing two days ago, was found in a nullah near his residence in Kandivli (West) on Friday. Ganesh Pathor was staying at Sunder Nagar area in Laljipada with his father, mother and three siblings.

“The boy went missing on Wednesday around 11am when his father went to buy some chocolates for his elder son Vivek. Ganesh followed his father and later went missing,” said senior inspector Harishwar Pimple of the Kandivli police station.

The family started looking for him. They finally lodged a missing person’s complaint with the Kandivli police after they didn’t find him. They also informed Malwani, Charkop and Bangur Nagar police stations.

“Locals spotted the dead body in the nullah around 7.30am and informed the police. When the news spread, the family rushed to the spot and identified the body,” said Pimple.

The police and fire brigade officers were also rushed to the spot and the body was sent for a post-mortem to Bhagwati Hospital in Borivli. “The nullah is hardly a hundred metres away from his residence. So there is a chance that he might have fallen into it while following his father. Even though the post-mortem report says that the boy died due to drowning, we are investigating the case from all possible angles,” said Pimple.
