Minor girl allegedly raped in Thane

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man in the city of Bhiwandi, Thane, police said on Monday.

According to PI S B Shendge of Bhiwandi city police station, the incident took place on Saturday night, when the victim, a resident of Jaitunpura was out to purchase biscuits. The accused asked the girl to show him the way to Quatergate Masjid and then took her to an isolated area near a warehouse, where he allegedly raped her.

A police complaint was filed by her parents in the early hours of Sunday after the girl found her way back home and narrated the incident to them.

The police have registered an offence under section 376 363, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 3(a),4 and 6 of the POSCA Act 2012 against the absconding accused.
