Mazgaon school kids pick up brushes for a cause

For the last few months, students Pezan Hiramanek, Aamir Jariwalla, Tamimoddin Jamadar, Ved Kulkarni, Rishikesh Patil, Abdul Qadir, Darian Dalal, Zaky Mohammed Das and Parshva Dhariwal have been painting the sketches for the paintings together.

Nine students of St Mary's High School in Mazgaon, along with NGO Vedanth Welfare Foundation, will be attempting to change the fate of Palghar's tribal students. The students plan to create and sell 250 paintings, the proceeds from which will be utilised to set up e-technology facilities in a tribal school.

For the last few months, students Pezan Hiramanek, Aamir Jariwalla, Tamimoddin Jamadar, Ved Kulkarni, Rishikesh Patil, Abdul Qadir, Darian Dalal, Zaky Mohammed Das and Parshva Dhariwal have been painting the sketches for the paintings together. The artworks will be displayed at the Cymroza art gallery on October 22.

Hiramanek, a Class VII student, said, "Once my art teacher saw my drawing and asked me whether I would like to use my talent for a cause. I agreed and made 20-25 paintings. They are now complete and I am eagerly waiting for the exhibition. If possible, I will also visit the tribal school where we have decided to do set up e-technology facilities."

Class VI student Jariwalla said, "I am excited for the exhibition, because all the funds generated will be utilised for a cause. My mother and art teacher inspired me for the project." Jamadar, a Class VIII student, said, "I have made 20 paintings and five more are yet to be made."

S Ravindranath, art teacher at St Mary's school, who is also a part of the Vedanth Welfare Foundation, said, "Nine students from different grades have come together to paint for a cause, which is setting up of e-technology in one of the Zilla Parishad schools in tribal areas of Palghar. We have taken the permission of the school. This would not have been possible without the support and inspiration of our principal, Francis Swamy."
