Man tries to self-immolate at Mantralaya

A 56-year-old man from Beed tired to set himself on fire outside Mantralaya’s gate on Friday afternoon, but the police managed to stop him just in time.

Gulab Shingare was protesting alleged usurping of land by other villagers. Cops posted at the Mantralaya found his movements suspicious and detained him.

“He had written a letter to the Chief Minister,” said Senior police inspector Vilas Gangawane. “We took him to the concerned department official for the redressal of the complaint and let him off after taking his statement. No case was registered.”
