Man rapes 5-year-old behind school

A 35-year-old Bhiwandi resident allegedly raped a 5-year-old girl behind a school by luring her on the pretext of chocolates.

The accused – Rajaram Cathom of Kamatghar – allegedly took the girl behind a Telugu school in Bhiwandi and raped her. When she resisted, he assaulted her as well. The girl later informed her mother about the incident.

"The accused told her that he will give her chocolates and took her to an isolated road, where he then exploited her. The girl screamed for help and then informed the parents," said a Bhiwandi city police official. "We have conducted a medical examination and are waiting for reports from the government hospital," he added.

"We have registered the case under section 376(rape), 366(A) (procreation of minor girl) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children From Aexual Offences Act," said Ashwini Raut, investigation officer, Bhiwandi city police station.
