Man molests woman in ATM queue, held

According to the police, the woman is a resident of Santacruz and works in a private firm.

The Andheri police arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly molesting a 25-year-old woman outside an ATM in Andheri on Saturday night. The youth was caught by the police after the woman raised an alarm, following which he was handed over to the police.

According to the police, the woman is a resident of Santacruz and works in a private firm. On Saturday, she was waiting in a queue outside an ATM at Mogrewadi area of Andheri when the accused, Jitendra Yede, a drug addict, allegedly touched her inappropriately. After this she raised an alarm and with the help of some locals managed to catch the accused and later handed him over to the police.

"The accused tried to speak with the woman and was standing in the queue only to touch her inappropriately. The passersby who heard the woman confronting the accused joined in to nab him until our policemen reached," said a senior Andheri police officer.

"We arrested the accused under section 354 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused has been sent to judicial custody after we produced him in the court," said Pandit Thorat, Senior Police Inspector, Andheri police station.

Raise an alarm

The woman raised an alarm which alerted locals and passersby.
