Man held for molesting teacher at Wankhede stadium during IPL match

A 22-year-old primary school teacher in Vile Parle was molested by a member of the catering staff at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday evening, while she was standing at Sachin Tendulkar Stand during the Indian Premier League match (IPL).

The Marine Drive police have arrested Gendalal Satnam (26).

According to the police, the victim had come along with students of the school where she works and was standing at the Sachin Tendulkar Stand at the stadium around 8 pm. The police said, the accused who was distributing water came to her and asked if she wants water. The victim denied, however, the accused repeatedly followed her and was forcing her to take water.

When the victim continued to ignore him, the accused suddenly came near her and groped and touched her inappropriately. The accused soon fled from the spot. As Satnam started running, the victim raised an alarm and followed him and caught hold of him with the help of policemen deployed at the stadium.

"As our policeman saw the victim running behind Satnam, he was chased. The woman then narrated the matter and lodged a compliant with us. We have registered a case and have arrested the accused," said a police officer from Marine Drive police station.
