Man held for molesting lawyer in SoBo

The Azad Maidan Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly molesting a 24-year-old woman lawyer in broad daylight on Wednesday in South Mumbai while she was coming back from a lecture at Mumbai University.

The accused has been identified as Rohan George Paul (28).

According to the police, on Wednesday morning, the victim had left her Navi Mumbai residence to go for lectures in Mumbai University. After the lecture when she was walking back and reached Hutatma Chowk an unknown person approached her from behind and allegedly grabbed her hands saying ‘Laali Chal Mere Sath’. She was walking towards the gate of Bombay High Court.

“Horrified with the man’s behaviour, the victim started shouting for help. A few people rushed for woman’s help and a police patrolling officer who was passing by from the area was called in. The officer immediately intervened and he informed the control room. Following this, the accused was taken into police custody,” said a police officer from Azad Maidan police station.

A case under section 354 (Molestation) of Indian Penal Code has been filed at Azad Maidan police station.
