A 25-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested by the Malwani police following the death of a 14-year-old boy due to electrocution in his residence. The deceased, Irfan Mandat, was alone when the incident happened in August. According to the police, the accused, Anwar Shaikh and Mandat's family, neighbours in the Ambujawadi area, were having a dispute over the latter's property and electric meter for a long time.

A police officer said, "Shaikh had earlier threatened Mandat's parents that he would kill them if he did not get possession of the property." Mandat's parents had gone to their native place in August. When they were away, Mandat had gone to his relative's house for dinner. after returning home, he touched an open wire kept in his house which caused the electrocution.
After investigations, it was learnt that the wire was deliberately kept there by Shaikh. "Shaikh had put the open wire in the room. The electric department also visited the spot and they suspected foul play. We also took statements from witnesses. We arrested him on charges of murder on Saturday," said the officer.
