It was a day of relief for a 20-year-old girl who got justice after the sessions court convicted her father with rigorous imprisonment for ten years for raping his daughter.

The Dindoshi Sessions court presided over by judge VA Raut, passed the verdict in the matter in which the accused was not only convicted under section 376 IPC (rape) and section 23 of Juvenile Justice Act (assault of the child by its custodian), he has also been asked to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 as compensation.
It was in May 2005, when the victim's mother had passed away, and the girl, her younger sister and younger brother were residing with their biological father, Satyajit Chaudhari, 45, in Dahisar.
It was then that the girl was first sexually molested by her father. He warned her from spilling the beans and threatened her. Further in her statement, the girl said that it was in August 2009 when she was sleeping with her siblings, the father approached her and forced himself on her. The girl kept resisting by telling the father that he was committing a 'Gandi Harkat' but to no avail. The father continued his disgusting ways and raped his daughter at least twice a week.
In August 2011, the girl got pregnant and she informed about it to her father. He then got her pills and made sure the foetus was aborted. Tired of the continuous assault for almost eight years, the girl planned to run away in 2012 but the thought of her father raping her younger sister in her absence made her stay.
She then spoke to a friend, who helped her with a NGO's helpline number. It was only after the father's arrest that the younger daughter revealed that she too had been sexually assaulted.
