A property dispute took an ugly turn when a 27-year-old unemployed man attacked his uncle at Andheri on Saturday night. The MIDC police arrested Sarabjit Singh Lakshotra in the early hours of Sunday. A local court remanded him in police custody till March 2.

A police official said, "There was an ongoing dispute between Sarabjit and his uncle Rajendra, and also their respective families, over a hotel Rajendra owned. Sarabjit had been feeling for some time that Rajendra was not giving his family due share of the property.

On Saturday, he lost patience and attacked Rajendra on the hotel premises."
The hotel and two nearby shops are jointly owned by Rajendra and his three brothers, one of them being Sarabjit's father, and have been given on rent. Sarabjit allegedly believed that Rajendra wasn't paying his family their fair share of the rent collected from all the establishments.

According to the police, at 8pm on Saturday, Rajendra was sitting in the passage of Uttam Da Dhaba at Marol-Maroshi Road when Sarabjit got into an argument with him over the property. "In a fit of rage Sarabjit flung acid on Rajendra's face and also attacked him on both his shoulders as well his back with an axe," said the official.

Rajendra, who has been admitted to SevenHills hospital, underwent a surgery on Sunday. “He has suffered deep wounds in the back and suffered superficial burns on the face,” said a doctor.

“The wounds had to be sutured. The burns are superficial and should heal in about a fortnight.”
