For those who want their address changed or are unhappy with the photographs on their Aadhaar cards, the state has decided to offer these services for a fee.

Taking into consideration complaints from people about the bad quality of the photographs on Aadhaar cards, the Information Technology (IT) department will soon offer card holders to get themselves photographed again at Permanent Aadhaar Card centres set up in the city and the state.

“We have been receiving complaints that the quality of the photographs is bad and they may not have been taken with proper care. Most citizens will want their photographs to look good on the card and be of good quality. Therefore, we have decided to allow them to photograph themselves again at enrolment centres,” said an IT department official.

Moreover, if someone wants to update or change their address, the IT department will also offer the service of updating the address. The address change can be carried out online after the card holder receives a password on his or her mobile phone. However, the card holder will have to provide proof of address by uploading documents online.

Aadhaar card holders opting for either of these services will have to pay a certain amount of money decided by the department as a fee.

“We are also carrying out a survey of the enrolment centres to examine if they are maintaining proper procedures such as white screen in the back ground and also using the right light while photographing the applicants,” said an official.

The official added that they are setting up additional Permanent Aadhaar Card centres. “Presently, we have around 700 centres, which will be increased to 2,000 centres across the state as the number of people left to enroll has decreased,” the official added.

The state is number one in Aaadhar card enrolments in the country with an enrolment of 8.74 crore, closely followed by Andhra Pradesh.
