They are the young guns who have plunged into politics to serve people and carry forward their family legacy, but the Next Gen netas will be facing a tough battle this election. Their political fate will be decided today, when the state goes for polls in the third phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Those in fray include NCP chief Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule, Congress MLA Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil's son Sujay, Dr Heena Gavit, daughter of ex-rural development minister Vijyakumar Gavit and BJP leader Eknath Khadse's daughter-in-law Raksha Khadse among others.

In Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule is contesting against BJP's Kanchan Kul in Baramati. In 20014, Sule won the LS with a slim margin. Not willing to take any risks, Pawar has been camping in Baramati. The father-daughter duo pursued Congress leader Harshvardhan Patil from Indapur to campaign for Sule. "Initially, Patil was reluctant, but after getting the assurance of skipping the Indapur seat, he campaigned for her," said a senior Congress leader.

In Ahmednagar, Leader of Opposition and Congress MLA Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil's son Sujay is contesting against NCP's Sangram Jagtap. Sujay has got the legacy of his great grandfather Vittalrao Vikhe-Patil. His grandfather Balasaheb Vikhe-Patil was a Central minister of the Congress. Sangram is the son of Aryn Kaka Jagtap, an NCP MLC from Ahmednagar.

In Raver, senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse's daughter-in-law Raksha Khadse has been pitched against Congress's Dr Ulhas Patil. Despite going through a major operation, Khadse has been actively campaigning for his daughter-in-law.

In Nandurbar, Dr Heena Gavit, daughter of former rural development minister Vijyakumar Gavit is taking on Congress's MLA KC Padavi. In 2014, Heena had defeated nine-time Congress MP Manikrao Gavit. However, this time, she is facing the backlash of her tribal community because of the Dhangar reservations. The Marathas are also upset with her as she had slapped cases against Maratha youths during the protests. In Dhule, ex-minister and senior Congress leader Rohidas Patil's son Kunal is pitted against BJP's Dr Ulhas Patil.
