Maharashtra: NCP starts election campaign from today at Mahad

Nationalist Congress Party has planned to kick-start it's 2019 Lok Sabha campaign from today at Mahad by taking the blessing of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Raigad fort. The rally will be addressed by NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

Interestingly, in 2014 the BJP had also started its election campaign from Raigad Fort. Nawab Malik, NCP spokesperson said that this election campaign, tagged as 'Nirdhar Parivartanacha', is committed for change. "After taking Shivaji's blessing at Raigad Fort, we will visit the lake that was opened for Dalits by Dr BR Ambedkar. There, we will hold a rally. With blessings of Shivaji Maharaj and Dr Ambedkar, we will dethrone the BJP government who did no good to farmers and common people," Malik said.

Calling the government 'corruption ridden', he said, "Everyday, we read about new scams. Yet no action has been taken. The onion growers are suffering, farmer's loan waiver scheme has completely failed," said NCP state president Jayant Patil.

Malik also alleged that the BJP government is slapping the false cases against those who are protesting against them. He said that "We are not living in a police state. In a democracy, everyone has the right to protest against the tyranny and wrong decisions of government, " alleged Malik.
