Stating that the government should not indulge in politicising welfare schemes, Congress state unit president and Lok Sabha MP Ashok Chavan has opposed changing the name of Rajiv Gandhi Arogyadayi Yojana and renaming it after the late Balasaheb Thackeray.
Reacting to news reports that the schemes name would be changed, Chavan sent a letter to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and opposed the move. He said that if the news reports are true, Congress would oppose the renaming. He said that politics on welfare schemes and naming of schemes was wrong.
Chavan recalled that the scheme was aimed at providing health facilities to lakhs of people during Congress rule. He said that while successful schemes are to be continued by the government, it was wrong to introduce a few minor changes and rename schemes. He said that it was politics with myopic vision and Congress would oppose it.
