The nexus between drug runner Shashikala alias Baby Patankar and Marine Drive police constable Dharmraj Kalokhe appears to be more and more deeper as the police probe their drug syndicate. The investigators have now learnt that when Patankar was on the run in a drug-related case in January this year, and wanted to apply for an anticipatory bail in court before being caught, Kalokhe had given her shelter for a day at a posh South Mumbai club in Churchgate which is frequented by who's who of the city.

According to crime branch sleuths, Kalokhe, who was attached with the Mill Special of the Marine Drive police, had made some deep contacts in the posh South Mumbai club.

"A few months back, when the Worli police had registered a case against Patankar, she went into hiding and had applied for anticipatory bail," said an officer privy to the investigation. He added: "During our interrogation, we came to know that using his connection, Kalokhe had managed to hide Patankar in a room of the club."

However, the management of the club was not aware about whom Kalokhe had brought to the club. "We got the information verified and came to know that the club was not aware of who the person (that Kalokhe had brought) was. We were also told that the room was not booked on either Kalokhe or Patankar's names," said the officer, adding: "We are checking how Kalokhe got such an access to an elite club like this one."

Background
On March 9, Satara police had seized 110 kgs of M-Cat, whose market value runs into crores of rupees, from the house of Kalokhe in Satara, and subsequently arrested him.

The following day, the Mumbai police inspected the locked cupboard of Kalokhe at Marine Drive police station, where he was posted, and discovered 12 kgs of white crystal translucent suspected to be M-Cat, and some quantity of opium. Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria had then ordered for Kalokhe's dismissal. Also, Pravin Chinchalkar, senior police inspector of Marine Drive police, was also transferred to special branch of the city police in the wake of the seizure.
