Vakola police registered a case of assault and criminal intimidation against unidentified persons after residents allegedly assaulted a BMC junior engineer on Wednesday. The officer had gone to evacuate a dilapidated building which the civic body had already listed it as a dangerous building as part of pre-monsoon preparedness.
Now, the civic body has now given April 30 as the date to vacate the building, otherwise the civic body will disconnect the water and electricity connection.
GG Garude, assistant municipal commissioner of H-east ward informed that Vijay Sambhe, junior engnineer of BMC had gone to evacuate D'souza Mansion in Vakola when he was attacked by residents. Sambhe has received injuries in the stomach and private parts and has been admitted to VN Desai Hospital in Santa Cruz.
