Local political activist killed in Dindoshi, one held

The Dindoshi police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering a 37-year-old local political activist over a monetary dispute. The police are on the lookout for two more persons allegedly involved in the crime.

The deceased person has been identified as Phillips Nadar, and the accused has been identified as Ganesh Mendarkar.

According to the police, Nadar was a resident of Qasam Baug building of Malad (E) and is survived by his wife and two daughters. A local political activist, Nadar was also into money lending business. Few days ago, Nadar had lent money to Mendarkar on interest, which Mendarkar was not willing to return. This led to a dispute between them.

"Nadar had threatened Mendarkar with dire consequences if he did not return his money. On Tuesday night, Mendarkar had called up Nadar outside his residence to return him the money. Around 8.30 pm, Mendarkar and two of his accomplices severely assaulted Nadar," said a police officer.

He added, Nadar was then admitted to Shatabdi hospital where he was declared dead. The police was then informed about the incident.

"Few hours after the crime was committed, Mendarkar surrendered himself before the police. The local crime branch have launched a manhunt to trace the other two accused involved in the crime," the officer said.
