A 35-year-old woman journalist was allegedly molested and robbed off her mobile phone at Kalwa station on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Shockingly, when the woman approached the Dombivli GRP to lodge a case, she was asked to go to Thane GRP as the incident took place in their jurisdiction.

The Thane GRP registered a case on Wednesday morning under sections 397 (punishment for robbery), and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code.

"The journalist, who was heading home in Dombivli, boarded the train from Dadar. When the train stopped at Kalwa around 12.30am, an unknown man entered the compartment and started arguing with her. He snatched her mobile and alighted when the train had already left the platform," said a GRP official. According to the woman's statement, the compartment was almost empty and there was no cop inside the coach.

An official from Thane GRP said, "We are checking the CCTV footage and hope to nab the culprit soon."
