A 29-year-old woman was brutally stabbed by her lover after she allegedly stopped reciprocating and tried avoiding him. The incident happened near Ram Mandir in Goregaon West on Monday evening. The victim, currently undergoing treatment in Cooper Hospital for multiple stab injuries, is married with three children.
According to the police, the victim, Kavita Jaichand and the accused, Ganesh Tulsidas, 24, worked in the same office for the last two years. Sunil Vadke, senior PI of Goregaon police, said, "The duo worked in a speaker manufacturing factory over the last two years. She came in contact with Tulsidas at her workplace and they started a relationship which went on for more than a year."
Recently, however, the woman started avoiding Tulsidas. She stopped answering his calls and kept avoiding him. "The accused was stalking her for a while as he could not handle her rejection. When the woman continued to avoid him, he confronted her on Monday evening outside their workplace," said Pandurang Pithe, API, Goregaon police.
They allegedly had an argument about her sudden change in behavior. "When she said she could not continue to be in a relationship with him and tried to walk away, Tulsidas took out a kitchen knife and stabbed her repeatedly on her face, chest, neck, arms and legs," added Pithe.
When a mob gathered, the man fled and the unconscious woman was rushed to the hospital by her colleagues and bystanders. "Her situation is under control. Her husband was informed immediately," added Pithe. Tulsidas has been arrested under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 504 (intention insult with intent to provoke breach of trust) on Monday evening. He has been produced before a metropolitan magistrate court and remanded in police custody.
