To lubricate additional investment in the state and boost its ambitious 'Make in Maharashtra' plans, CM Devendra Fadnavis announced a list of measures, including grant of construction permissions in a week, if the designs have been submitted in the standard design.

The red tapism in grant of construction permissions have led to Maharashtra being ranked at number 180 in the World Bank's Global Ease of Doing Business.

Presently, for an industry located in agricultural zone or no development zone (NDZ) the eligible FSI is 0.1. For expansion of factories, file for zone change and additional FSI from 0.1 to 1, moves from district, director town planning and all the way to the urban development secretary and then the CM. These powers will now be delegated to collectors.

Industry will not have to buy new agricultural land, they can instead increase the FSI from 0.1 to 0.9 on existing plots, thus saving land.

FSI has been increased from 1 to 4 to make available adequate houses on existing police plots and conservancy workers will also benefit as muncipal plots for them will get 4 FSI, if plot size is bigger that 4,000 sq meters.
Fadnavis made the statement during the ongoing winter session session in Nagpur on Monday.
