IIT Bombay's placement season kicks off

More than 150 offers were received, with the initial participation of 32+ companies this year.

Day one of the campus placement season of the Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay (IIT-B) took place from Thursday morning to 2 am on Friday. The institution drew more than 150 offers, with the initial participation of 32+ companies this year. These included more than 20 international job offers.

Major recruiters included Goldman Sachs Services, ONGC, Texas Instruments India, Microsoft, GE India, Airbus Group India, Cairn India, NEC Japan, Murata Group Japan, Qualcomm, Schlumberger Asia Services Ltd., Tata Steel, Xerox Research Center, etc.

The overall number of selections was good and is likely to sharply improve in the coming days. This year, the placement season at IIT Bombay will approximately last till 17 December and about 225 companies in all are expected to visit the campus.

The participation of startups will be comparatively less as compared to the previous years. Indian companies like Paytm, OLA Cabs, Uber etc. have confirmed their participation during this season, the Professor-In-Charge of the Placement Cell said.

According to sources, the interview in two slots i.e. is from morning 8am and evening 6pm will happen only for four days. Later, the process will have one slot for interviews. The big companies sometimes come even on the eighth or ninth day of placement.
