Final year Bachelor students at Nair Hospital and Dental college in Mumbai Central were left perplexed on Monday. Their Public Health Dentistry question paper came with a set of rather quirky instructions. The students were amused to see humorous instructions take place of the otherwise boring ones given at the beginning of the paper.

The first one stated: "You are trained to be a dentist, not a story teller; answer point to point." Another one asked the students not to get nervous if their friends ask for supplements, stating: "They may be just showing off to make them nervous".

Dr Amit Chaudhary, the professor who set the paper, said the idea was to make the exams stress-free. "Most students are very stressed and tense during exams. Instead of traditional instructions, which most students overlook, I thought of using these quirky ones to lighten their mood to help them write their papers well."

One of the instructions read: "Do not unnecessarily smile at the person sitting next to you; they may also not know the answers." Also, for students who might usually look for instructions on questions to attempt, there was a warning: "You may have a lot of options in life, but here, all questions are compulsory."

The students took to social media to share their amusement after seeing the paper. "It was a refreshing change to read something other than the boring "all questions are compulsory", said one of the students.
