After the tug of war over the issue of plot allotment to actress-politician Hema Malini, both chief minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis and revenue minister Eknath Khadse on Tuesday buried the hatchets, at least for now.
Speaking to dna after the cabinet meeting, Khadse said it was not possible that the chief minister would take any decision keeping him (Khadse) in the dark. He informed that Fadnavis had put a remark on the file sent to him (CM) by the revenue department that the 1983 government resolution be scrapped and a fresh policy for land allotment for various welfare purposes be formulated.
It is interesting to note that the cabinet on Tuesday decided to streamline the process in a bid to bring clarity while deciding on land rates. When dna talked to a number of ministers, including Khadse, they maintained that the cabinet did not discuss anything on Hema Malini's land. Khadse made it clear that valuation of the piece of land allotted to Malini was yet not done and news reports quoting specific amount as price were wrong.
Meanwhile, officials are maintaining that the file on which Fadnavis put the remark – for scrapping of 1983 GR and bringing a fresh policy – is not pertaining to Hema Malini's plot. Also, even though the CM has decided on an issue pertaining to the revenue department headed by Khadse, the latter has yielded by saying that there were no differences within the Cabinet.
