Heavy rains lashes city, 15 tree falls reported

Though the city witnessed heavy, incessant rains on Sunday, Mumbaikars were relieved since it was a holiday. However, 15 instances of tree collapses were reported across the city and several parts of the city faced water logging, especially in central Mumbai.

Some of the areas where trees had collapsed were Kandvili, Gowalia Tank in Gamdevi, Prince Colony in Mulund, near Jaslok Hospital, LBS Marg, Chikuwadi in Borivli and Tardeo.

"No injuries or damage has reported in tree collapses," a fire brigade official informed.
However, potholes emerged on the roads at several parts of Mahim, especially near the Mahim church.

According to the disaster management cell of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), water logging was reported at Hindmata and Kalachowkie areas of central Mumbai during afternoon. The water was soon cleared from these areas.

Till 5 pm, 37.2 mm rainfall was reported in Colaba, while 39.3 mm rainfall was reported in Santacruz. The high tide was recorded at 3.23 pm and the waves reached a height of 3.81 metres.
