Taking the example of Delhi Haat, the Maharashtra government plans to launch Mumbai Haat — a separate mall for the products made by women's self-help groups. The pilot will pave the way for other suburban Haats to promote the 'Make in Maharashtra' brand in the state.

A review meeting was held at the chief minister's office in presence of chief secretary Swadheen Kshatriya on Monday.

The subway near Metro cinema will house this market that will have jewellery items, daily household items as well as food items produced through organic farming. It will also have a digital museum and a selfie corner.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis suggested that Mumbai Haat should be kept open four days a week, and also that more such Haats should be started in suburban areas. He said it would provide an opportunity to various women's self-help groups for displaying their work under one roof.

The CM pointed out that the exhibition of Saras receives a huge response every year and starting such Haats would provide a permanent market place for such products.

Principal secretary for skill development and entrepreneurship development Dr Deepak Kapoor showed a presentation on Mumbai Haat. He informed that while promoting domestic products through it, an effort would be made to promote the 'Make in Maharashtra' brand with participation of private sector along with government departments.
