Global drug ring busted with M-KAT seizure

Two people were nabbed with 13 kilograms of the party drug mephedrone, which goes by the street name M-KAT, worth Rs 2.68 crore.

The Amboli police claimed that the drug consignment belonged to an international drug lord, Kailash Rajput, who has been named as a wanted accused in the case.

Police Sub Inspector Daya Nayak and his team, after being tipped off about the impending arrival of two drug peddlers in the city with a huge consignment of drugs, were watching out for them. The duo was apprehended when it arrived in an SUV (MH 04 HU 03260).

The two accused were identified as Krishna Choudhary and Mukesh Takale.

Choudhary and Takale were in direct contact with Kailash Rajput, a notorious drug peddler who operated a major syndicate in Delhi and Mumbai, the police said.

Rajput has been made a co-accused in the case and is currently under the radar of various law enforcement and anti-narcotics agencies.

"During interrogation, the accused have confirmed that they were in touch with the international drug peddler Kailash Rajput. They also said the drugs were meant to be sold to high-profile social circuits in the city," said an Amboli police officer.

The accused were arrested under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. After being produced in an Andheri court, they have been remanded in police for two days, the police said.
