Gas pipeline fire leaves Sion locals in the lurch

Gas supply to several housing societies in Pratiksha Nagar, Sion, was temporarily cut off and electricity supply disrupted on Wednesday morning after an underground electricity cable laid near a gas pipeline caught fire, on the road in front of Indraprastha Society.

Following which, gas supply to around 15 societies was cut off. A van belonging to the Cancer Patients Aids Association parked on the road was also damaged in the fire. While the exact cause of the fire remained unknown, a statement issued by Mahanagar Gas Limited said, “As a precautionary measure, the gas supply to some of the pockets in the vicinity were cut off. Work is in progress to restore the gas supply at the earliest.”
