Prominent degree colleges in the city will still be out of reach for several high scorers as most colleges have seen only a marginal drop in the second merit list announced on Thursday evening.
At several colleges, the cut-off percentage for the second list continued to be above 90 per cent. Colleges like Jai Hind, HR college, KC college and Mithibai are among the few that recorded only a marginal dip in the cut-offs for most subjects as compared to the first list. Jai Hind college in Churchgate saw a dip of only 2 per cent for BA and BCom this year, closing at 92 per cent. Similarly, at KC college, the cut-offs for Bachelor in Accounting and Finance, Finance Management and Mass media saw only a dip of 0.4-4 per cent keeping most cut-offs above 90 per cent. "Cut-offs have only gone down marginally in the second list as a large number of high scorers had applied to some of the prominent courses. Most high scorers apply for multiple courses and the real picture will be clear only after they secure admission in the next few days," said Ashok Wadia, Principal, Jai Hind college.
Matunga's Ruia college closed the list for BA at 90 per cent, just a 3 per cent dip from the previous list. Similarly, at Podar college, the cut- off for Commerce dipped by just 1 per cent.
