The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday conducted raids at the social welfare commissioner's office in Pune and seized heaps of documents related to a case involving misuse of funds. The raid came two days after the ACB registered a case against three executives from private companies and government servants from the social welfare department for allegedly flouting a government resolution (GR), and misusing funds worth Rs 24 crore in a training program.

According to the ACB, in 2012, the private companies were given a contract to train students in subjects like Computers, English and Personality Development in government institutes. The companies went against the rules and outsourced the work to an organisation which was floated by the former social welfare minister's personal assistant Prashant Alladwar and also to another company.

"We have seized a jeep full of documents with respect to the case which will be brought to Mumbai and scanned by our officials," said Vishwas Nangre Patil, additional commissioner of police, ACB.

The ACB is also investigating the sequence of events, starting from how the tender was floated, the transfer of money, violations done at each step and the details of the contract.

"Currently, Alladwar is on our radar as he had outsourced the training work to his company, RIT Resources Private Limited, and benefited by Rs 16 lakh. We are checking the approvals he sought and more importantly, if the training was imparted as promised. We will be taking statements from the students for the same." The department will also be questioning each individual involved in the case.

The ACB has booked Ravindra Indulkar, regional head, Birla Shloka Education Limited, Guruprasad Krishnamurthi, vice president, Zenith Software Limited, Raju Pandey, vice president, Core Education Technologies Limited, and government servants from the social welfare department.
