A Dubai-bound Air India Express flight made an emergency landing, returning to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon about an hour after take-off. The flight, with 177 passengers and six crew members, had to return because of a hydraulic failure.

Sources said the Boeing 737-8HG took a U-turn to make an emergency landing after taking off at 1.30 pm. "It was airborne for over an hour, but the pilot encountered a technical failure and had to return," said an official from Air India Express.

By 7.50 pm, the flight was pushed back on to the tarmac and continued the same route. "It took off at 8 pm with all the passengers," the official added.
